The current copyright fees required for an aspect of the governmentally-provided and legally effective intellectual property protection laws in the U.S. are set according to the judgment of the U.S. Copyright Office and within the larger administrative framework of the Library of Congress. As such, the most basic copyright fee consists of the “online registration of a basic claim in an original work of authorship,” which, if filed online, will cost $35, one of the smaller copyright fees required in the U.S.
The basic categories for copyright fees comprise of: “Registration, recordation, and other services,” “Special services,” and “Licensing division services.” A full listing of the copyright fees to be imposed can be found at the Copyright Office’s .gov website, while further queries may be answered either by phoning or mailing a message in to the Copyright Office.
